Brookdale Community College - African American Literature Course and Bankier Library

  • African American Literature
    Brookdale Community College offers this introductory course which surveys African American Literature through eclectic samplings of narratives, poetry, short stories, plays and novels; exposing students to the literary contributions of prominent/influential twentieth-century black writers.
  • Bankier Library
    Brookdale's Bankier Library covers more than 500 years of African-American history.  This comprehensive reference database features thousands of extensively hyperlinked and informative entries, including biographies (some with quotes), primary sources, images, timelines, and maps and charts.

Monmouth University - African Studies
Monmouth University offers undergraduate and graduate courses on the history, religions, and cultures of Africa and the Caribbean. The following is one example of its many course offerings:

  • History of West Africa
    The purpose of this course is to trace the history of West Africa from earliest times to the modern period. For convenience of study, the course has been divided into five sections: Early history of West Africa, Economic systems of West Africa, Political structures of West Africa, Colonialism in West Africa, and Post-independent West Africa.
