Poetry in the Park
The Poetry in the Park series began in June 2007 as a creative writing showcase featuring Camden County's teenagers as well as South Jersey's poets and spoken word artists.  The events were held every Monday in June and allowed time for regional winners of the New Jersey "Poetry Out Loud Competition" and Camden County's Arts 4 Teens poets (selected from the annual Arts 4 Teens Festival) to present their talent.  By popular demand, the series expanded from its lone summer month to become an all-year event with summer dates outdoors and colder dates inside the Historic Hopkins House located at 250 South Park Drive (Cooper River Park) in Haddon Township, New Jersey.  Since September 2007, Poetry in the Park schedules dates every 2nd Monday of each month 6:00pm - 9:00pm.  The series now invites special guest poets and includes an open mic for the area's new and emerging poets and spoken word artists of all ages. For more information, to register for open mic, or to learn about other events at the Historic Hopkins House, contact Camden County Cultural & Heritage Commission at (856) 858-0040 or email: SMS@camden.lib.nj.us or visit online - http://Arts.Camden.Lib.nj.us
