Routes to Roots Heritage Trail
The Hermitage
The Hermitage, a historic house museum built in 1847-48, incorporates a stone house that was visited during the Revolutionary War by George Washington. This historic site was also home to many African Americans who significantly contributed to life at The Hermitage, from the running of the household to agricultural activities for most of one hundred years. These African Americans, as slaves, were key to the economy of the Prevost's "Gentleman's Farm" before and during the Revolution and perhaps also earlier for the Lane family in the 1760s. Open Wednesday thru Sunday, 1-4PM (last tour begins 3:15PM),
Admission: Adults $5.00, Seniors/Students $4.00, Children 6-12 $2.00.

COUNTENANCE: Notable County Facts & Faces

T-Neck Records
T-Neck Records was a record label founded by the influential R&B music group, The Isley Brothers in 1964. The name of the label is derived from Teaneck, New Jersey, where Rudy Isley lived in the late 1960's. The Isleys (O'Kelly, Rudolph and Ronald) were the first R&B band to form their own record label, a rarity in black music during the early sixties.
